The income of the 22 (OECD) donor countries of the "Development Assistance Committee" in 2001 was $20.2 trillion.

The $124bn needed to eradicate extreme poverty represents 0.6% of donor income (still below the 0.7% promised by the donor nations.)

As countries in extreme poverty rise to the status of moderate poverty, an increasing share of their own governments income will become available to support their citizens

until eventually each country has been lifted out of extreme poverty.
