The Day of the Launch
There were several television companies on hand to interview the Edingtons before they left including the BBC, West Country TV, Central Television and Sky News. There were also photographers from agencies and the national press. Suzy and Sophie Edington posed on board Loquax for the photographers and RM's Finbar McGaughey was interviewed by Sky.

By mid-day the Edingtons' preparations were complete and the Loquax set sail towards the open sea. The photographers crammed into a press launch and followed the boat out of the harbour. Loquax sailed past a large tanker and was passed by what looked like a commando boat.

As Loquax made its way out of the harbour, it sailed past a famous Plymouth landmark. From the pictures you can see Loquax sailing past Plymouth Hoe. Plymouth Hoe was where Sir Francis Drake played bowls before taking to the sea to defeat the Spanish Armada in 1588.

The Edingtons waved goodbye from the Loquax but they didn't quite manage to leave. There were two cameramen still aboard and the sea taxi had to go and pick them up. Finally, Loquax sailed away from Plymouth harbour on the start of her exciting voyage.
