A typical  Project SightSail  weekend

The Weekend:

Starts Saturday morning Tunks Park, Cammeray.
10.00 Welcome on board,
Coffee, a safety briefing and introduction to the yacht.  Cast off the mooring and learn to manoeuvre under power, exploring Sydney's Middle Harbour.
12.00 Lunch break
Pick up a mooring in Sugarloaf Bay, lunch and the chance of a swim
13.30 Pass under the Spit Bridge
Your opportunity to sail a 60 foot yacht really begins!  We will spend the next 6 hours handling the yacht under sail - from Middle Harbour to Sydney Harbour Bridge, including a chance to sail near The Heads
19.00 Anchor for Dinner
Dinner on board - we're happy to cater for vegetarians, vegans whatever!
2030 Lift the anchor
Spend about two hours sailing by night.  Learn how different it is to sail in the dark - see the lights and landmarks of the harbour at night
22.30 Anchor for the night
Sleep in your own twin berth or double cabin
Sunday - Somewhere in Sydney Harbour

 

0900 Breakfast
Along with the chance of a swim and shower.
10.00 Pick up the anchor
Four hours of slightly more advanced sailing, including instruction and theory, use of the compass and charts
14.30 Re-enter Middle Harbour
Pass back under the Spit Bridge, manoeuvre under power and sail
15.30 Return to Cammeray Marina
 Learn how to pick up a mooring and secure the boat.
16.30 Finish
Students returned to Tunks Park by launch.
